Fire Destroys Home, Barn in Stoneham; 1 Horse Killed

A fire at a barn in Stoneham, Massachusetts has left one horse dead and injured three firefighters.

Responders arrived on the scene of 20 Emery Court at 9:24 p.m. on Saturday, where a barn on the property was fully engulged. Flames from the barn had spread to the nearby house on the property.

The roof of the house later collapsed, and both structures are believed to be total losses.

The fire, which took nearly four hours to contain, was fought by firefighters from Stoneham, Winchester, Wakefield, Woburn, Melrose, Burlington, Medford, Malden, Reading and Saugus.

The three firefighters who sustained minor injuries caused by the extreme heat. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
