Heat, Humidity on the Rise on Sunday

Tonight: An early shower or thunderstorms. Warm and muggy. Lows in the low 70s. Tomorrow: Hot. Mix sun and clouds with afternoon thunderstorms. Highs in the low 90s. Tuesday: Hot. Mix sun and clouds with afternoon thunderstorms. Highs in the low 90s.

Bright sun to start our Sunday with temperatures rising quickly. The humidity is also building, due a south-westerly wind that will dominate New England over the next couple of days which will leave us sweating once we head outdoors.

Highs will climb close to 90 in many cities, one of them being Boston, indicating the arrival of the second heat wave of the season. We are forecasting to hit 90 degrees over the next three days, with a chance for an isolated strong storm inland each day until Tuesday -- these storms have the potential for small hail, gusty wind and downpours -- but most areas will stay rain-free.

A cold front approaches the region Wednesday and Thursday, with a good chance for showers and storms while behind it.

Expect cooler and less humid air to settle in Friday and last into the weekend with highs closer to average for this time of year. So, August will greet us with temperatures in the low 80s after having one of the warmest Julys on record.
