7. Why isn’t NBC10 Boston on cable systems in Bristol County, Massachusetts?

NBC10 Boston is currently not available on Bristol County cable systems because the county is assigned to the Providence, Rhode Island viewing area and therefore is considered outside of the Boston market for cable carriage purposes. Boston television stations that do appear on Bristol County cable systems are classified as “significantly viewed” by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC looks at historical viewership when classifying a station as “significantly viewed” and since NBC 10 Boston is new, we don’t have this status yet.

We apologize for the current inconvenience, but do hope to eventually appear on some Bristol County cable systems. As a reminder, NBC10 Boston is available over-the-air with an antenna in many Bristol County communities. If you have an antenna, please rescan your TV set for channel 60.5 or channel 8. You can also access NBC-affiliated Station WJAR, Providence, on most Bristol County cable systems.

8. Why isn’t NBC10 Boston on Comcast cable systems in certain counties like Franklin County, Massachusetts and Grafton County, New Hampshire?

NBC10 Boston is not available on cable systems in Franklin County, Massachusetts and Grafton County, New Hampshire because those counties are assigned to viewing areas outside the Boston market for cable carriage purposes. Boston television stations that do appear on cable systems in these counties are classified as “significantly viewed” by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC looks at historical viewership when classifying a station as “significantly viewed” and since NBC10 Boston is new, we don’t have this status yet.

9. Will the NBC programs set to record on my DVR continue to record properly?

The answer depends on your cable or satellite provider and the cable box you use. Your cable provider should be able to tell you if you contact them. In general, NBC programs set to record without a channel preference will continue to record normally. Any recording set to record by channel will require you to reset your DVR recording to record on NBC10 Boston’s channel.

10. Why am I having trouble recording “All Episodes” of some NBC programs on my Comcast DVR?

Comcast is aware of a software problem that is prohibiting some customers from initiating a recording for ALL EPISODES of some NBC series programming.

If your have an Xfinity Comcast DVR and your series recording is set for a specific station, be sure that the station is “WBTSHD Only” or “WBTS Only.” An alternative is to DELETE the recording event entirely and re-enter the recording from the CHANNEL GUIDE SCREEN.

If you operate a non-Xfinity Comcast DVR and have recordings set for “THIS CHANNEL ONLY,” you must change your “channel preference” to “ANY CHANNEL.” An alternative is to DELETE the recording event entirely and re-enter the recording from the CHANNEL GUIDE SCREEN.
