PD: Boy Nearly Drowns in Plymouth Pool

Police and fire both responded to a residence on Raymond Road after receiving a report around 5:17 p.m.

A 12-year-old boy nearly drowned in a swimming pool in Plymouth, Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon, according to Plymouth police.

Police and fire both responded to a residence on Raymond Road after receiving a report around 5:17 p.m.

A party with about 30 people was underway in back of the house, by the pool. Part of the celebration was for the boy's recent birthday.

Authorities said that someone at the party looked into the pool and saw the boy - who has not yet been identified - face-down at the bottom. He was pulled out of the water and revived by an uncle, who performed CPR on him while others called 911.

When they arrived at the scene, police said the child was conscious and alert but lethargic.

The boy was subsequently brought to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth for further medical attention.
