Police: Child Was Not in Vehicle That Was Carjacked

Child safe after carjacking in Brockton

Police now say a child was not in a vehicle that was carjacked Thursday evening in Brockton, Massachusetts.

A carjacking occurred around 5:15 p.m. on North Montello Street, police said, adding that there was a report a child had been in the vehicle at the time. Multiple officers responded to the scene.

Police confirmed around 5:40 p.m. that the child was safe, but they are still looking for the stolen vehicle, a black Audi Q7 with West Virginia plates.

After 6:30 p.m., police said the child was never in the vehicle, but was safe at home with his or her father the whole time.

No further information was immediately available.
