Former Red Sox outfielder Trot Nixon will return to Fenway Park this Friday to throw the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Game 1 in the American League Division Series.
Nixon, a native of North Carolina, is not just throwing out the first pitch. The Wilmington, Massachusetts resident is helping to raise money for those impacted by Hurricane Florence.
A collection will take place from the time gates open through the second inning.
Proceeds from Friday's collection will benefit the American Red Cross relief efforts in North Carolina.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7:32 p.m.
