One person has died and two others were seriously injured in a rollover crash on Storrow Drive in Boston early Friday.

Massachusetts State Police said the crash happened on Storrow Drive eastbound near Clarendon Street. The single-vehicle rollover happened at about 1:35 a.m., just a couple of hours after the city celebrated Independence Day at the nearby Charles River Esplanade.

Authorities said the driver, a 27-year-old Stoughton man named Alexander Galanis, was pronounced dead after being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

One passenger, a 38-year-old Florida man, was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. A second passenger suffered minor injuries. Police had previously said three passengers had been in the car, but later changed the number to two.

Officials said the car came to a rest on Back Street after it hit a building.

State troopers are investigating if the car gained access to Back Street by entering a restricted area of Storrow eastbound. Several streets nearby were shut down due to the Fourth of July celebration.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
