Residents in Manchester-by-the-Sea have been alerted after a large shark was spotted Wednesday near House Island.

Police in Manchester-by-the-Sea said a large shark was spotted Wednesday near House Island.
Authorities said that residents can swim in the area, but should do so with caution.
There were no additional sightings, police said.
Anyone who sees a shark in the area is asked to call the harbormaster at 978-526-7832.
