Signal Issue Causes Delays for Multiple MBTA Commuter Rail Lines

Commuter Rail commuters are facing up to 25 minutes in delays due to signal problems and mechanical issues.

Multiple Commuter Rail lines are experiencing delays Tuesday morning due to signal issues, according to the MBTA.

Affected lines are facing an average of a 20-minute delay due to the problem, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said on its site. The Fairmount line experienced the delay more severely, with it running up to 40 minutes behind schedule. As of 8:15 a.m., it was behind schedule by 20 minutes.

The Commuter Rail's Franklin, Middleborough, Greenbush, Providence, Needham and Fairmount line are all affected by the issue. It is unclear what caused the signal problems.
