Heat Wave in Boston; Spring-Like Weekend Ahead

We settle comfortably into the weekend as high pressure dominates, bringing sunshine and seasonable temperatures

Rest of Today (Friday): Mix of sun & clouds with temperatures into the mid 80s. PM t’storm possible. Overnight Friday Night: Cooling off quickly under mostly clear skies. Lows dip into the upper 50s. Tomorrow (Saturday): Plenty of sunshine, and spring-like with highs into the mid 60s.

It's officially a heat wave in Boston, as temperatures hit 90 degrees for the third straight day on Friday.

It's one of the earliest heat waves in the city's history. The earliest ever was from May 2 to May 4 in 2001.

Temperatures are starting to drop, as a cold front filters in, and pleasant, spring-like weather is expected this weekend.

A few storms are expected to pop-up this evening from 4 to 6 p.m. for the southern coast of Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

After that, though, we settle comfortably into the weekend as high pressure dominates, bringing sunshine and seasonable temperatures.

Both weekend days reach into the 60s, perfect for any outdoor plans.

For the extended outlook, late Sunday night into early Monday brings the next round of showers to the area, with most of the rest of the week into the upper 60s with more rain chances by the second half of the week.
