‘Calm' App Valued at $250M; Fitbit's ‘Versa' Smartwatch

The meditation app Calm is so successful, Apple has named it the 2017 app of the year. The app is free but full of subscriptions costing $60 a year where users can access a full library of meditations, music and sleep improvement content. The app is valued at $250 million. Because mindfulness apps are now a thing and so is bundling video services with cell phone plans, cell phone companies are now trying to lure new users with free video. AT&T is offering up HBO, Sprint is offering Hulu, and T-Mobile is offering Netflix. And Fitbit’s new Versa Smartwatch is out and hoping to help the company regain strength. The $199 watch does all the standard things fitness watches do but it’s not as heavy as competitors.
