Device Tests for Peanuts; More Self-Driving Vehicles

The annual Consumer Electronics Show is getting underway in Las Vegas and many new high tech gadgets are making their debut. If you have a peanut allergy, Nima has developed a portable tester to detect trace amounts of the legume. It’s available for pre-order and starts at $289. Fort Worth-based Bell Helicopter will be offering a sneak peek of its first electric flying taxi at the Vegas show. The company isn’t releasing many details of how it actually gets off the ground but says they are working with Uber and hope to have a demo ready by 2020. And Toyota is also getting in on the self-driving vehicle craze. The company says the e-Palette can be used for things like pizza deliveries and mobile retail stores. Pizza Hut and Amazon have already signed on. Toyota hopes to have a demo ready for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
