Black Bear Hangs Out in Tree in Newton

Police issued a wildlife advisory in Newton, Massachusetts Tuesday night about a black bear that was sitting in a tree on Centre Street, not far from Newton Center. Police had asked people to avoid the area thinkiing that the bear could be there all night. An officer was posted near the tree to keep an eye on the developing situation. A few hours later, authorities gave the all clear when the bear moved on at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
