Man Arrested for Allegedly Breaking Into Cambridge Home

A man was arrested Sunday morning after reportedly breaking into a Massachusetts house and stealing a car, police said.

According to police, they responded to a Decatur Street home in Cambridge, Massachusetts just after 4 a.m. Sunday morning after a resident reported hearing a window in their home being broken.

Responding officers discovered that the home had been broken into and the victim's car had been stolen, police said.

While officers were still investigating, police received another report of a house being broken into a few blocks away at Erie Street near Brookline Street.

According to police, they coordinated an extensive search of the area with the help of a Boston Police Department canine officer.

At 5:05 a.m. the car stolen from the Decutar Street home was found by police on Essex Street near Massachusetts Avenue, police said. They then arrested a suspect inside a nearby bank ATM.

Police identified the suspect as Spencer E. Santos, 23, of Cambridge.

They arrested Santos and charged him with larceny of a motor vehicle and unarmed burglary. He was also arrested on an outstanding Cambridge District Court arrest warrant for breaking and entering a building.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
