Temps Continue to Rival Record Lows Thursday Morning

Today (Thursday): Limited sun to clouds. Highs near 40.
Overnight Thursday Night: Cape showers. Temperatures remain near 40.
Friday: Sunny, breezy, not as cool. Highs around 50.
Once again, it's winter layers at the bus stop Thursday morning.
For the second morning in a row, temperatures are rivaling record lows. In some cases, it’s near 0 degrees in the colder spots, to near 20 degrees closer to the coast.
The difference Thursday morning, though, is that we have much less wind and it will warm up better, What’s better? Is that high temperature reaches 40 degrees in southern New England and 30 degrees north.
We also have a lot of clouds in store and there will be scattered sprinkles in southern New England and a scattered flurry or snow shower north. Wind from the south will become a bit busy, 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
The clouds and limited precipitation Thursday are with the leading edge of warmer air that moves in for Thursday night and Friday. We should cool to about freezing later in the night.
High-pressure that brought the huge pool of cold is moving to our east. Now, we will have a low-pressure system moving in the southeastern Canada. That’s the reason we are warming up.

But just as quickly as Friday, there’s a new cold front arriving northern most to New England with a few snow squalls, possibly from Burlington, Vermont to Rangeley, Maine during the afternoon.
For most of us, though, we have more sunshine than clouds Friday with a high temperature in the 40s to lower 50s.
Another big, cold high-pressure system comes in on Saturday, with a windy cold start once again near 10 degrees north and 20s south. Wind from the north will be gusting past 30 mph, creating a sub-zero wind chill for some at sunrise.

There will be plenty of sunshine for our Saturday. Wind will diminish after noon with the high temperature in the 20s north and 30s south.
It looks clear and cold Saturday night with a low temperature in the 10s and 20s. On Sunday, we begin to watch an ocean storm to our south. It’s going to be a slow mover and get stronger and stronger as it gets closer Sunday afternoon.
At this time, it looks like we stay dry through the weekend. Strong coastal wind and perhaps rain and snow developing Sunday night into Monday. There’s a lot of action next week, but probably more in the way of rain than snow as temperatures should be more seasonable for this time of year.
