Mauricio Casillas joined NBC4 as a reporter in 2022.
Casillas was born and raised in El Paso. He attended Arizona State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and a Master’s degree in Mass Communications.
Previously, Casillas worked at KVIA, the ABC affiliate in El Paso. He started as an overnight reporter, then worked his way up to become anchor and executive producer of the morning newscasts.
While at KVIA, Casillas’ reporting on border issues earned him two awards from the Associated Press. He also received an EMMY Award from the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Casillas lives in Arlington with his wife, Diana, their baby son, and their dog, Gigi.
