Pamela Gardner is an Emmy award-winning meteorologist who joined NBC10 Boston and NECN in 2018. She has earned the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. In 2025 Gardner was recognized by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association and awarded first place for meteorologist.
Catch her on air mornings and afternoons on NBC10 and NECN.
Gardner previously worked at WBZ-TV in Boston and appeared on several national broadcasts including the CBS Evening News. Prior to that, she worked in her hometown at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana. Before that, she was at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Indiana as the weekday morning meteorologist, having started there immediately after college. This is where she was awarded an Associated Press award for her weather coverage.
She appeared on WIPB-TV (PBS) in Muncie, Indiana while attending Ball State University, and while there she was nominated for her first professional regional Emmy Award in college. She later was nominated for several more New England Emmys, including for several for weather-anchor and for graphics design.
Gardner received her bachelor’s degree in telecommunications with a minor in meteorology from Ball State University, then awarded her Broadcast Meteorologist Certificate from Mississippi State University, a six-year journey while concurrently working in the TV business. The Indiana Broadcaster’s Association recognized her with a scholarship for broadcast journalism during this time.
Later she earned her Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association in 2016 and continues her education to keep that distinguished seal. Gardner is a longtime member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and participates in meteorology conferences across the country.
Her expertise in severe thunderstorms and tornadoes led her to the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma. In 2017 she was selected as the first female and first New England representative for research in the Hazardous Weather Testbed, FACETs (Forecasting a Continuum of Environmental Threats). This program supported the National Weather Service with rolling out a new probability-based tornado and severe thunderstorm warning system. She was invited back to the National Weather Service in 2018 to experiment with the GOES-R satellite, testing technology for severe weather warnings.
She has traveled all across the Midwest and New England to share her love of forecasting with kids in school. One of her favorite stories to tell is when she covered the blizzards of 2015, which gave Boston a record-breaking 110.6” of snow.
When not at work, you can find Pamela along with her husband and their boys, exploring everything New England has to offer...including anything sports or seafood related. Her perfect day in New England is enjoying a hot summer day at the beach on the South Shore, or skimming along the water on her waverunner.
