Student Injured After Being Cut By Razor Blade on Mattapan Playground

A Boston elementary school student was injured on Monday after being cut by a razor blade.

Boston Public School officials said in a statement that a group of first graders at the Mattahunt school in Mattapan were at recess when they found some razor blades.

The child who was injured was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Parents were notified of the incident. The students were also reminded of the dangers of picking up foreign objects.

"We spoke with students today to remind them of the dangers of picking up unknown objects off the ground. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority," read a statement from a school official.

The Boston Public Health Commission is now working with the school and sending out the Mobile Sharps Unit to check for any additional objects.
