12 Teens, Bus Driver Facing Alcohol Charges

A total of 12 teens were charged with possession of alcohol. In addition, a bus driver is charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A bus driver and 12 minors are facing charges after the teens allegedly consumed alcohol on a charter bus on the way to the Tim McGraw concert at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

On Friday around 6:45 p.m., police in Norton, Massachusetts, spotted a female lying in the roadway in front of Cumberland Farms at 246 Mansfield Avenue. Several individuals were attempting to pick the female up from the ground. When an officer began to approach the female, the individuals fled from the scene, some holding beer cans.

Officers approached a nearby party bus and found a large quantity of empty beer cans and bottles around the bus. The driver of the bus, 40-year-old William Rivera of Randolph, said that he was transporting 35 teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 to the Tim McGraw concert. Rivera told police he was not aware of the alcohol on the bus.

Two females were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. The remaining ten teenagers on the bus were transported to the Norton Police Department to wait for transportation from their parents. Nine of the teens had blood alcohol levels over .10 and one female had a blood alcohol level of .25. She was also transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

A total of 12 teens were charged with possession of alcohol. In addition, Rivera is charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
