Sunshine and low humidity levels will dominate Tuesday but a haze will linger thdue to smoke from wildfires happening in Canada.

Highs will rise into the 80s to near 90 degrees, especially in areas away from the coast. High pressure will remain in control Tuesday night as low temperatures drop into the 50s and 60s once again.

By Wednesday, it will be a bit more humid with a slight chance for a pop-up shower or thunderstorm over northern New England. High temperatures will be close to 90 degrees inland and cooler at the coast due to an onshore wind that develops again during the afternoon.

As we wake up Thursday, patchy fog is possible mainly around coastal towns and the air mass will be "quite soupy" as dew points (measure of moisture in the air) rise close to 70 degrees. It will be a hot, hazy and humid day with highs in the 80s and 90s ahead of a cold front that approaches New England, which will trigger scattered storms and heavy rain Thursday evening into Friday.

There's a good chance for showers and storms to end the week as that front crosses over the region. Sunshine and lower humidity return for the weekend, with highs on Saturday and Sunday in the 80s.

Our First Alert Exclusive 10-Day forecast shows heat and humidity returning next week with a chance for a possible heat wave across southern New England.
