Man Facing OUI Charges in Chelmsford Fatal Crash

Massachusetts State Police have arrested a man following a deadly crash early Sunday morning in Chelmsford.

Police say one car rear-ended another on Route 3 at about 1:24 a.m.

Later on, a third car became involved in the incident while trying to avoid the crash. That driver missed one car but struck the other, which was pulled over into the breakdown lane.

The driver that was in the breakdown lane, a 63-year-old man from Hudson, New Hampshire, was taken to Lowell General Hospital for his injuries. He died early Sunday morning.

The driver of the car that rear-ended the victim, Christopher Thompson of Nashua, New Hampshire, was arrested on several charges including OUI.

The third driver who became involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and is not facing any charges.

Thompson is expected in Lowell District Court later this week.
