The driver, Kyle Roust, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The 21-year-old from Tewksbury was later pronounced dead, police said.
State police said preliminary investigation shows that Roust was driving a Suzuki GSXRT10 motorcycle at a high rate of speed as he raced the driver of the car from a stop light on the Fellsway north. As the motorcycle approached the intersection with Charles Street, Roust failed to negotiate a left-bearing curve and went off the road.

Roust was thrown from the motorcycle as it overturned, state police said.
The car, which was black, drove off, according to police. No arrests have been made and police are still seeking to identify the other driver.
