Skydiving ‘Wind Tunnel' to Open at Patriot Place in 2020

The venue will use virtual reality technology to enhance visitors' skydiving experience

A state-of-the-art indoor skydiving facility is coming to Foxborough’s Patriot Place in the fall of 2020.

Freedom Wind Tunnel will be over 100 feet tall and utilize the “latest virtual reality technology,” Patriot Place said Monday. In one simulation, divers will have the chance to skydive into an NFL stadium and deliver the game ball to center field.

“We are excited to move into this next phase of development by landing this facility at Patriot Place and turn that simple conversation so long ago into concrete reality,” said Freedom Wind founder Neil Gouck, a 12-year Army veteran who was part of the Black Knights skydiving team at West Point, in a statement.

The idea for Freedom Wind came over five years ago during a conversation with his wife, according to Gouck. The couple soon decided to pursue the idea.

“I traveled around the world visiting tunnels in Spain, France, Germany and the Czech Republic to name a few, and experienced that thrill again and again, met owners, discussed technology and spoke with manufacturers,” Gouck says on the Patriot Place website.

The venue will be a family-friendly facility welcoming divers of all ages and abilities, according to Patriot Place. It will also be available for professional and military training exercises.

Freedom Wind Tunnel will be located between CBS Sporting Club and Showcase Live, joining the other entertainment venues and restaurants at Patriot Place.
