Woman Critically Injured in Pedestrian Crash in Cambridge

The accident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police

A 28-year-old California woman was critically injured when she was hit by a car on Monday night in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The accident was reported around 9:14 p.m. in the area of 945 Memorial Drive, according to state police. The pedestrian, a woman from Upland, California, was taken to Beth Israel Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Her name has not been released. Police said she lives in the Boston area with family members.

The driver of the 2010 Toyota Corolla that hit her, a 29-year-old Brookline woman, was not injured.

State police said preliminary investigation shows the Corolla was headed east on Memorial Drive in the area of the intersection with DeWolfe Street when the pedestrian entered the roadway in the area of the Weeks Footbridge and was hit.

The driver remained on the scene, police said.

The crash is being investigated by state police. Cambridge police and fire also assisted at the scene.

No further information was immediately available.
