Thunderstorms are knocking out power and causing flooding in some parts of New England on Tuesday.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency says more than 3,000 electricity customers lost power statewide.
A flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service for the areas of Springfield, Clinton, Boston and Northborough, and a flash flood warning in Worcester.
Trees and wires were reported down in numerous towns across the state, including Amherst, Beverly, Billerica, Fitchburg, Wellesley, Westford and Woburn. Floods have been reported on many streets in Chelsea, Oxford, Westfield and Worcester.
A fire on Upper North Row Road in Sterling burned through a garage after apparently being sparked by a lightning strike, according to officials. The blaze also caused heat and water damage to the home connected to the garage. No injuries were reported.
Monson police said their Town Hall and Police Department suffered a direct lightning hit, which knocked out its 911, business line and radio systems. They urged anyone needing emergency help to call 413-267-4162.
In Hadley, part of Hockanum Road had to be shut down after lightning struck a utility pole.
Over 10 percent of flights out of Logan Airport have been cancelled and 23 percent have been delayed, according to FlightAware.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 7 p.m. in central and northeastern Massachusetts.
In New Hampshire, some major flooding was reported in Manchester, New Hampshire, with some vehicles getting stuck trying to pass through high water. Lightning also struck a church steeple in Bow, burning the top of it right off.
In Connecticut, a tornado warning was issued around 4 p.m. for parts of Windham County. It has since expired. Trees and wires are down across the state, which has left thousands without power.
