3 Suspects Taken Into Custody After Landlord Finds Them Cutting Blood-Soaked Carpet, Police Say

All three offenders have been taken into custody

Three people were taken into custody after a Philadelphia landlord found them cutting up a blood-soaked carpet with a body wrapped inside, police said.

The gruesome scene unfolded in the 4000 block of Higbee Street near Wissinoming Park, according to police.

Marisel Figueroa told NBC10 that she was renovating the house next door when the landlord arrived at his property around 2:30 p.m. Saturday to collect rent. The tenants said they didn't have it, according to Figueroa.

Noticing a missing piece of carpet and that the tenants were acting strangely, the landlord called police, who arrived a few minutes later.

Further details about the victim and how they were killed were not immediately available. It's also not clear when the person was killed or if it happened at the residence.

Two men and one woman were taken into custody and have not been charged at this time. No weapons were recovered.
