Celtics-Raptors recap: Tatum buzzer-beater in OT lifts C's to win

What a finish!

Jayson Tatum barely hit the rim on his buzzer-beater attempt at the end of the fourth quarter. He got another chance in overtime and took full advantage. The Celtics superstar hit a deep 3-pointer as time expired in overtime to give Boston a 126-123 win over the Raptors.

Jaylen Brown and Neemias Queta just teamed up to block RJ Barrett on a drive to the basket. The C's have the ball with a chance to win the game after a timeout.

The Raptors just used a coach's challenge successfully to overturn an out of bounds call. They'll have the ball at halfcourt with just under a minute remaining.

Jakob Poeltl has a career-high 35 points, and the Raptors have a small lead with under two minutes to go.

Jayson Tatum's shot at the buzzer to win the game at the end of the fourth quarter missed, and we'll go to overtime at TD Garden. Both teams are 1-1 in overtime this season.

We're all tied with under a minute to go in regulation. The Raptors just called a timeout after Neemias Queta tied the score with a layup.

RJ Barrett probably will get the ball coming out of this timeout. He has been on fire in the fourth quarter.

RJ Barrett just hit a crazy 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to keep the Raptors in this game. He is close to tallying his first career triple-double. Barrett has 21 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

A Sam Hauser 3-pointer has given the Celtics a one-point lead with about four minutes played in the fourth quarter. Hauser is up to a season-high 14 points on 3-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.

Raptors center Jakob Poeltl's career high is 31 points. He has 30 so far, so he'll probably surpass it.

The Raptors have hit just four 3-pointers, but they're still in this game because of a massive 60-30 edge in points in the paint. The Celtics are shooting 14-of-43 (32.6 percent) from beyond the arc. After a slow start, Boston's bench came alive in the third quarter and now has 24 points, led by Sam Hauser (11 points) and Payton Pritchard (six points).

Toronto center Jakob Poeltl leads all players with 26 points on 12-of-14 shooting.

The Raptors led by as many as seven points in this third quarter, but Payton Pritchard has given Boston the edge again. He hit back-to-back 3-pointers after starting out 0-of-5 from beyond the arc, and then he found Luke Kornet on the fast break for a layup.

The Celtics needed a spark and Pritchard has provided it with an 8-0 run.

The Raptors have started the second half on a 10-2 run, forcing the Celtics to call a timeout. Jakob Poeltl has scored four points in the third quarter and leads all players with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting.

The Celtics are now below 25 percent from 3-point range.

The Celtics have just a two-point lead at halftime after leading by as many as 10.

Jayson Tatum leads the Celtics with 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting (4-for-8 on 3-pointers), along with six rebounds and two assists. Jaylen Brown (11 points) and Derrick White (10 points) also have scored in double-digits for Boston.

The C's shot just 8-of-27 (29.6 percent) from 3-point range in the first half, but they made 10 of their 11 free throw attempts. Brown's aggressiveness offensively has resulted in eight free throw attempts, and he has made seven of them. Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard are a combined 0-of-8 from beyond the arc.

The best play of the first half was Brown throwing the ball off the backboard to himself before finishing with a layup.

The Raptors' lead didn't last long as the Celtics are back in front.

Neemias Queta increased Boston's lead to six with a sweet put-back dunk.

The Raptors have their first lead since the score was 2-0. Toronto is shooting 53 percent from the floor. The Celtics are shooting 44.1 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent (6-for-21) from 3-point range. The Raptors have a 16-14 edge in rebounds, too.

Unfortunately for the Raptors, they just lost Bruno Fernando due to an ankle injury. Toronto is already without Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickly, Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown because of injuries.

It's hard to believe, but Sam Hauser just attempted his first free throw of the season, and the Celtics are in game 14 of 82.

Hauser made the free throw to complete an and-1.

Jayson Tatum entered Saturday leading the NBA with 11.5 first quarter points scored per game, and he finished the opening 12 minutes against the Raptors with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting (3-of-6 from 3-point range). Derrick White and Jaylen Brown both scored five points in the first quarter. The Celtics are just 5-of-16 from beyond the arc.

Ochai Agbaji leads the Raptors with eight points. The Raptors are staying in this game because of their bench, which has eight points already. Toronto attempted just five 3-pointers and zero free throws in that quarter. Sixteen of the Raptors' 26 points have come in the paint.

The Celtics have jumped out to a quick 10-point lead. Derrick White already has five points, while Jayson Tatum has two assists and two rebounds. All five starters have scored for the Celtics, who are on a 12-0 run.

The Raptors won the tip and the game has begun.

The Celtics will be wearing their new City Edition jerseys tonight against the Raptors. The black-and-green uniforms will serve as alternates for the C's this season.

For the first time this season, the Celtics will not have Jrue Holiday in the lineup. The veteran point guard has been downgraded to out for Saturday's game versus the Raptors. He is battling left knee tendinopathy. C's head coach Joe Mazzulla told reporters that he does not expect the issue to linger.

Holiday is averaging 12.8 points, 4.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game this season.
