It’s a weekend of division across New England, with cool air near the coast and warm air inland.

Early fog on Saturday will burn off to partly cloudy skies, allowing temperatures to warm close to 80 in parts of Western and Central Massachusetts, as well as Southern New Hampshire. The sky will appear hazy, as more smoke from Canadian wildfires drifts overhead.

At the coast a cooling east wind will keep temperatures in the 60s to around 70. Here fog will flirt with beaches, especially on the Cape and Islands, during the day.

A spot shower or storm is possible in parts of far Northern and Western New England during the day, but most towns stay dry.

Fog redevelops overnight Saturday into Sunday, with temperatures in the 50s for many, and then that gradually burns off during the day.

By Sunday afternoon highs will again climb into the 70s inland with 60s to near 70 at the coast.

Showers and storms will be more widespread during the afternoon on Sunday, first in Western New England, and then they gradually slide east. A few strong to severe storms are possible west of Worcester. Expect the storms to arrive in Central Massachusetts and much of New Hampshire around or after 5 PM in many cases. As the wet weather continues to ride east, it will run into stable marine air, meaning storms weaken to just showers for Boston at night.

The next work-week starts cool, in the 60s, but then gradually warms back up into the 70s to near 80 by mid-week.
