    Saturday Forecast: Increasing Clouds

Increasing clouds. Highs in the 20s.

Saturday night: Cloudy, breezy. Lows in the 20s.

    (Published Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018)

High pressure from Canada supplies cold air and sunshine for our Saturday, temperatures starting near 10 degrees warm to the 20s by afternoon.

It is a bit less windy than yesterday, with gusts 15 to 20 mph from the southwest.

High pressure moves offshore, allowing for warmer weather to return overnight, temperatures only slowly falling through the 20s south, and teens north to start off our Sunday.

A warm front in New York will generate clouds and periods of light snow in northern New England tomorrow morning, remaining mostly dry in southern New England.

By afternoon, snow will become heavier toward the Canadian border, and snow and rain mixed in southern New England changes to rain during the late day and evening.

Low-pressure tracks over northern New England tomorrow night with moderate rain in southern New England, and heavy snow in the mountains of the north.

High temperatures near 40 degrees and holding in the 30s overnight. Ski areas get about 10 inches of snow, southern areas get a half inch of rain.

A cold front whips through early Monday morning much as it did early today, with temperatures on the fall during the day.

Even though it's a sunny Monday, temperatures cool to the 20s south and 10s north with a gusty northwest wind.

This pattern it's going to repeat itself again mid-week, with cold dry weather on Tuesday with slight warming, then rain at the coast and snow in the mountains again for Wednesday, followed by freezing cold wind again on Thursday.

The polar vortex has come to Canada, but there's very warm air across much of the United States, and New England is in the battle zone between the two.

We have rapid-fire weather changes for the next ten days at least.
