    Weather Forecast: Bright and Breezy

Monday night: Some clouds late, patchy black ice. Lows around 30. Tuesday: Bright with a cool breeze. Highs in the lower 40s.

    (Published Monday, March 11, 2019)

Many places saw highs in the low 50s across southern New England today, including in Boston. Overnight lows dip into the freezing zone so watch out for patchy black ice for your Tuesday morning commute.

Highs in Tuesday afternoon will be a tad cooler due to a weak cold front sweeping through. A few more clouds will be around as the front dips south overnight, and the breeze will stick around in the afternoon while highs will only be in the upper 30s and low 40s.

It will still be very seasonable for this time of the year and highs again Wednesday will be in the low 40s.

Wednesday night into Thursday we'll see a few showers, or snow showers will be possible across New England, as a warm front stalls over us. The front lifts northward Thursday afternoon and that will allow the milder temperatures to rush in from the south. Highs on Thursday will be in the low 50s with a partly sunny sky.

By Friday, we expect temperatures around 60 degrees but with a gusty south wind. Scattered rain will also move through on Friday with the chance of some embedded heavy rainfall.

Now is the time of the year to watch for ice jams and some river flood potential due to the snowmelt with our spring thaw. Our extended outlook keeps temperatures near average and overnight lows near freezing.

Next weekend we cool into the low 50s Saturday with sunshine, and St. Patrick's Day will be even cooler with highs in the low 40s and sunny.

Monday into Tuesday we may see a wintry mix with highs in the low 40s, while Wednesday we dry off into the mid-40s.

In our 8-14 day climate outlook, we have a slight chance of cooler than normal temperatures across New England.

If we can get the right storm to track near us, and if it moves through overnight, we could still see snow but with the pattern this season, it looks unlikely.
