It's an absolutely disgusting spring day by most standards and it's challenging records for coldest high temperature for the date.

Highs are struggling out of the middle and upper 40s and the combination of occasional drizzle, no sun and a northerly breeze making for "feels like" temperatures only in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. In other words, it might as well be a winter day!

As you might imagine, it won’t get any more comfortable overnight. However, drizzle will wind down by late Tuesday and, barring a decision on field condition, the Red Sox should play ball in a chilly Fenway Park. A few new showers will crop up from west to east overnight into very early Wednesday morning.

For most of Wednesday, dry conditions are expected. Very limited morning sun will give way to lots of clouds filling the sky until they break somewhat later in the day. Still, the lack of rain and some breaks of sun will allow high temperatures to rise more than ten degrees from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Though we may gain a couple more sunny days Thursday and Friday, we’ll also see energetic disturbances that os capable of spawning some scattered showers.

The payoff for all this disturbed weather will be an absolutely incredible weekend: High temperatures in the 60s and 70s with sunshine! Of course, pollen and bugs will be out with a vengeance, but most will likely be happy with the change.

At this point, it looks like warmth may continue to build into early next week, along with a returning chance of scattered showers, before a cold front brings a shot of cooler air back for the end of the week, at the end of our First Alert 10-day forecast.
