Temperatures will soar to around 70 on Friday, just as people get ready to celebrate both Passover and Easter this weekend.

Strong southerly and southwesterly winds of up to 35 to 45 mph will blow right into Saturday, sending in the warmth and even some humidity.

Most of Friday will be dry, with just a few spot showers during the afternoon, but the showers will expand as we head into Friday night and Saturday morning.

On Saturday itself, we’ll continue to be in and out of the rain showers, but it certainly will not be a complete washout. Rain will be heaviest and steadiest north and west of Worcester. That’s where the risk of flooding is highest.

Temperatures will again be warmer than average, with highs in the 60s to around 70.

The band of steadiest rain slowly slides east on Easter, so we’ll start the holiday with some lingering showers near the coast. Over the course of the day, as that continues to pull away, we’ll dry out and some partial sunshine will develop.

When it’s all said and done, expect a widespread 1-to-2-inches of rain this weekend. A First Alert is up for western and northern New England, where street and river flooding is most likely.

Early next week will likely still be above average temperature-wise, but we’ll hold on to the risk of some spotty rain showers.
