We’ll see unseasonable warmth today as a high pressure system located between the Carolinas and Bermuda ushers a warm return flow into New England.
There will be abundant sunshine today with high temperatures cresting into the mid-70s across the interior, 60s at the coast and near-70 degrees across the north. Southwest winds may bring gusts up to 30 mph today as warm temperatures help to mix the atmosphere.
Temperatures drop off into the 40s tonight under mostly clear skies. Another unseasonably warm day is on tap for tomorrow. We’re expecting to come within or tie some highest maximum temperatures records Tuesday with continued warmth across New England. Skies will be partly cloudy tomorrow with highs reaching well into the 70s across the north and touching into the low 80s across the south.
Showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two will work into the region towards sunset. Showers move in on Wednesday along a cold front approaching from the Great Lakes. High temperatures stay in the upper 60s to near 70 degree south and upper 50s north under cloudy skies.
A cold front shifts offshore on Thursday with high pressure moving in behind it. We’re expecting mostly sunny skies with cooler temperatures reaching into the upper 50s. A weak weather system brings some additional clouds and the chance of some showers on Friday. We’re not expecting much in the way of precipitation with this system.
Highs on Friday will be in the upper-50s south and mid-50s across the north. Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is looking sunny with comfortable temperatures in the mid-50s to near 60 degrees.
It will be partly sunny on Sunday with highs moderating into the low 60s south to near-60 degrees north. The Boston Athletic Association’s Boston Marathon is next week.
