    What to Know

    • Expect cooler temperatures in the 60s tonight.

    • Fall feel quickly moves away starting Sunday. Highs will be in the 80s Sunday.

    • Oppressive humidity returns on Monday with temperatures climbing into the 90s.

The first day of September feels a little fall-like around New England, with a crisp morning giving way to a pleasant afternoon dominated by low humidity. Skies will remain partly cloudy with highs primarily in the 70s, but a few spots inland will touch 80.

The wind goes from east today, to south overnight. That allows slightly more humid air to trickle in. Lows drop into the 50s and 60s with patchy fog.

It’s a bit humid on Sunday as well, with a continued south wind. Highs will pop into the 80s.

It’s oppressively humid again by Monday. Highs will be in the 80s to near 90 ahead of an approaching cold front. That front will get close enough to trigger a few pop up downpours or storms, especially in far Western and Northern New England.

The storm threat approaches Southern New England on Tuesday as the front sags south. It will also still be humid and hot on Tuesday, with highs around 90 in much of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. It will turn a bit more comfortable in Northern New England.

Temperatures stay above average for much of the workweek after that point, before getting close to average by next weekend.
