Happy Patriots’ Day! The 121st Boston Marathon kicks off at 8:50 a.m. this morning in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s at the start of the race and into the low 70s as runners cross the finish line. The 26-mile race finishes near the John Hancock tower in Copley Square in Back Bay.

It's an an overall pleasant day with mostly sunny skies and west winds. High pressure noses into New England overnight, returning cooler and more seasonable spring weather to the region.

Patchy drizzle may develop overnight and into Tuesday morning. Otherwise, partly sunny skies prevail tomorrow with temperatures only reaching into the upper 40s to low 50s.

High pressure moves offshore on Wednesday. This will result in a return flow of building clouds from west to east with a chance of showers by the afternoon. Highs will reach into the mid 50s south and low 50s north.

Dreary and cool weather continues into Thursday as another area of low pressure moves overhead. Temperatures will rise into the mid 50s on Thursday, right around normal for this time of year.

Yet another raw and cool day expected on Friday with slightly cooler highs in the low 50s. Partly sunny skies prevail on Saturday as an area of high pressure moves in from the Great Lakes and Ontario.

Highs will reach into the mid to upper 50s. Good luck to all of runners participating in the Boston Marathon! More details are on the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-Day Forecast on NBC Boston and necn.
