Jack Thurston

Jack Thurston joined necn and NBC10 Boston in April 2011 as a reporter in our Vermont news bureau.

He says he is most passionate about telling the stories of community members who work hard to make the state a better place to live. 

In 2022, Jack won a New England Emmy Award for feature & human interest reporting. In both 2018 and 2014, the Radio Television Digital News Association honored Jack with regional Edward R. Murrow awards for news writing. In 2017, Jack won a New England Emmy Award for writing.

Before coming to necn, Jack covered Vermont for nine years at the state's CBS affiliate, WCAX. His work there also received several journalism honors, including three regional Edward R. Murrow awards.

A native of Massachusetts, Jack earned a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College and a master's degree from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

When he's not at work, Jack enjoys watching live theater and movies, spending time outdoors, and exploring farm-to-table restaurants.
