Suspect in Jassy Correia's Kidnapping Could Face Death

U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Andrew Lelling announced Sunday that federal prosecutors have charged Louis D. Coleman III, of Providence, Rhode Island, with kidnapping, resulting in death. The charge carries a sentence of mandatory life and also makes 32-year-old Coleman eligible for the death penalty if convicted.

This weekend, friends and family will have a chance to mourn the death of a kidnapping victim that occurred in Boston last month.

The wake for Jassy Correira, 23, of Lynn, will be held Friday at St. Peters Church in Dorchester from 5 to 9 p.m., according to Dolan Funeral Home in Milton. A funeral Mass will follow the next day at 10 a.m. The burial will be private.

Correira was found in the trunk of a car on Feb. 28 after last being seen leaving a Boston night club on Feb. 24. The driver, Louis D. Coleman III, 32, was caught on surveillance video driving away from the night club with Correira in his car and dragging her body into his apartment.

Coleman, from Providence, has been charged with kidnapping, resulting in death and faces a life sentence and possible death penalty.
