1 Man Killed, 3 Others Shot in 4 Separate Shootings in Boston's Dorchester Neighborhood

There were four shootings in a span of 12 hours in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood

One person died and three others were injured in four separate shootings overnight in Dorchester, Boston police confirm.

The fatal shooting happened around 3:40 a.m. on Westview Way, which was blocked off for several hours as police investigated on scene.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

Two of the other shootings happened at 11:10 p.m. Friday on Stratton Street and 4:07 a.m. Saturday on Blue Hill Avenue.

Details on the fourth shooting were not immediately available.

All three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Police Commissioner William Gross says five guns have been recovered and three gun arrests have been made since Friday evening. He says two more gun arrests are expected.

All four people were shot overnight near Franklin Park where the Caribbean Carnival and Parade is being held Saturday. During the festival, people flood the streets to celebrate with music and wild costumes. It's unclear if the violence is connected. The event was marred by shootings in 2015.
