More than a dozen police and fire vehicles responded to Haymarket Station in downtown Boston after a person was struck by an MBTA train around noon on Tuesday.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said Orange Line service was temporarily suspended between North Station and Back Bay due to a person struck by a train at Haymarket.
Firefighters from the Boston Fire Department's Technical Rescue unit used air bags to lift the train off the tracks. The victim, a male, was pulled out and transferred to a local hospital with what fire officials said was a head laceration.
His exact condition is not known.
MBTA officials said service was suspended between North Station and Back Bay for over an hour. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Joe Pesaturo, spokesman for the agency, said the incident is under investigation.
