A 43-year-old Boston man was killed Sunday in a jet ski crash in Boston Harbor, police said.

Massachusetts State Police responded around 4:20 p.m. to a report of a jet skier in distress off Malibu Beach, the waters off Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester.

The Boston Police Department’s harbor unit was able to reach the victim and bring him to the shore, where CPR was administered. The victim, later identified as Curtis Raper, of the city's Dorchester neighborhood, was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation indicates Raper was riding a jet ski when he crashed into a stationary sailboat that was attached to a mooring.

Raper was accompanied by three friends at the time of the crash, police say. A witness reported the four men were taking turns riding two jet skis.

State police officers were able to locate Raper's family and friends along the beach.

An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
