Man Facing Charges in 2 Armed Gas Station Robberies, Attempted Carjacking

Alfredo Rosa, 27, of Avon, is facing charges from Foxboro, Mansfield and Stoughton police, as well as Massachusetts State Police

A Massachusetts man is facing numerous charges after police say he robbed two gas stations and attempted to carjack someone in their driveway while leading police on a wild chase through several communities.

Alfredo Rosa, 27, of Avon, was arrested Sunday and is being charged with armed robbery while masked, uttering threats to kill, unlawful possession of a firearm, failing to stop for police, attaching motor vehicle plates to conceal ID and civil motor vehicle infractions. Those charges are in addition to several outstanding warrants.

Police say at 2 a.m. Sunday, Rosa pulled out a gun and robbed the Gulf gas station on Dykeman Way in Stoughton, getting away with some cash.

Ed Gato says Rosa then did the same thing at his Mobil.

"And he pretty much told the guy working here, 'if you don't give me the money, I'm going to kill you,'" Gato said.

Mansfield police received a 911 call around 5:50 a.m. Sunday from the clerk at the Mobil gas station on Chauncy Street, reporting that he had just been robbed by a masked man with a handgun.

The clerk reported the suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

Responding officers encountered the suspect's vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the man refused and fled the area.

Officers followed the vehicle onto the highway where the suspect eventually abandoned his vehicle and ran into a wooded area on Interstate 495 south in Foxboro.

During a search for the suspect, Foxboro police received a call from a resident who reported an attempted carjacking at the resident's home. The suspect produced a knife demanding the resident's vehicle but fled prior to any further altercation.

Shortly thereafter, Rosa was located in a wooded area near the highway and was taken into custody at gunpoint by Foxboro police officers and state police troopers.

During a search of the area, authorities recovered a firearm.

Rosa will also face additional charges from Foxboro police and Massachusetts State Police.
