Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has been physically cleared to play in Game 5 of the team's series against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.
Celtics coach Brad Stevens told the Boston Globe that Smart was evaulated on Monday and "If he feels good, he's been cleared physically to go." If he makes it through a late-morning workout after the team's shootaround, he is expected to play.
He is officially listed as questionable for the game.
Smart, a key rotation player, has been out for five weeks after injuring his right thumb while scrambling for a loose ball during a game against the Indiana Pacers on March 11. He had hurt the same hand in January when he swiped in frustration at a picture frame in a hotel room.
The defensive stalwart's return would be a huge boost for the Celtics, who are tied 2-2 with the Bucks heading into Game 5.
