Mass. Man Accused of Killing Brother With a Hammer Indicted

Innocent Asia, who was 23 at the time, was found dead in his home in Paxton, Massachusetts by Paxton police who had responded to a 911 call.

A Paxton, Massachusetts, man has been indicted for allegedly murdering his brother with a hammer.

The Worcester County District Attorney's Office announced Friday that Alexander Asia, 25, was indicted by a grand jury for the murder of his brother, Innocent Asia, in their home back in December.

Asia is also accused of injuring his mother, Leticia Asia, 53, and another brother, Ogechi Asia. He is also facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, attempted murder and armed assault with intent to murder.

Innocent, 23, was found dead in their home in Paxton after police responded to a 911 call.

Police say Leticia went to a neighbor's house after the attack. According to MJ Byrnes, who lives two houses away, Leticia stumbled in the dark to her house, where she kept ringing the doorbell.

Byrnes said her sister brought Leticia inside and saw the gash in her head.

"My sister reported that the mother had stated that her son was trying to kill the family with a hammer," Byrnes said.

An investigation into the attack is ongoing. Attorneys say an autopsy report is pending and that Asia will be arraigned in superior court at a later date.
