NBC10 Boston Honored With 3 Edward R. Murrow Awards

NBC10 Boston, an NBC Owned Station, received a total of three Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Outstanding Journalism in 2018

The NBC Owned Television Station in Boston, NBC10 Boston, has won a total of three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. The awards were recently announced by the Radio Television Digital News Association and recognize the best electronic journalism produced by radio, television and digital news organizations around the world.

NBC10 Boston/WBTS won a total of three awards, including an award for "Best Newscast" for coverage of the death of Whitey Bulger; "Best Investigative Reporting" for a report on Massachusetts state license plate confusion; and "Best Continuing Coverage" during the Merrimack Valley gas explosions.

• Newscast (covering the death of Whitey Bulger)

• Investigative Reporting (Ryan Kath’s reporting on Massachusetts state license plate confusion)

• Continuing Coverage (Merrimack Valley gas explosions)

The regional winners are automatically advanced to the national Edward R. Murrow Awards competition, which will be judged in May 2018. The national awards will be announced in June 2018 and the awards will be presented at the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City on Oct. 14, 2019.

RTDNA has recognized outstanding achievements in electronic journalism since 1971. This year, RTDNA awarded 723 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards to 309 local news outlets in categories including Overall Excellence, Breaking News, Investigative Reporting, and Excellence in Innovation.
