Plans Fall Through for The Friendly Toast in Coolidge Corner

Earlier this year, we reported that a trio of eclectic dining spots was planning to open a fourth in Brookline. Now we have learned that this will not be happening after all.

According to a couple of sources, a "For Lease" sign is now up at the storefront in Coolidge Corner where The Friendly Toast had been looking to open, and a message from the group of restaurants confirms that they have decided not to move forward with the Beacon Street location at this point in time. They tells us that plans to open outlets in Burlington and Bedford, NH, remain on, however, and those locations will join existing ones in Boston's Back Bay, Cambridge's Kendall Square, and Portsmouth, NH.

The space that The Friendly Toast had been looking at was previously home to Yasu, which shut down in early 2016 after approximately a decade in business.
