Police: Brockton Man Found With Over $50K Worth of Drugs

A Brockton man was arrested by Massachusetts State Police on Friday after he was found with $50,000 worth of drugs, according to troopers.

Etimilson Cabral, 18, faces seven different charges, including multiple drug charges, the unlawful possession of ammunition and operating after a license suspension.

Cabral was stopped by police while he was driving at the intersection of Albion Street and N. Montello Street around 5:10 p.m. Police initially arrested Cabral because his license had been revoked, troopers said.

Troopers searched Cabral's car and body after the arrest. Cabral tensed his body "in a manner that prevented troopers from conducting a full search of his person," according to police, so he was brought back to his home, where a strip-search was carried out in private.

After searching Cabral, police found:

-16 knotted twists of suspected fentanyl with an approximate street value of $470

- 4 knotted twists of suspected carfentanil with an approximate street value of $100

- 11 knotted twists of suspected crack cocaine with an approximate street value of $330

- An electronic scale

- $340 in cash.

Based on the results of that search, Troopers applied for and obtained a search warrant for Cabral’s bedroom in the Albion Street house.

Brockton detectives and Troopers carried out the search warrant on the room shortly before 9 p.m., police said. Troopers and detectives found a safe in the room. When the safe was opened, police found:

- 423 grams of suspected fentanyl with an approximate street value of $42,300;

- 87 grams of suspected cocaine with an approximate street value of $8,700; and

- $308 in US currency.

In the safe Troopers and detectives also found and seized five rounds of .25 caliber ammunition and six additional electronic scales.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid more powerful than heroin. Carfentanil is an opioid that is more powerful than fentanyl.

Cabral is expected to be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court.
