Stubborn clouds will yield to decent breaks of sunshine for most of New England Wednesday, and the heart of New England will escape without thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The center of the energetic disturbance responsible for recent showers and thunder finally pushes to our east and out to sea.

Most communities will see nary more than a sprinkle in hot and humid air with heat index values in the lower 90s. A few spots have a higher chance of showers and thunder – the Cape from morning to early afternoon, Maine north of Portland during the afternoon and the North Country of Vermont and New Hampshire after dinner.

In the case of Northern New England, a few thunderstorms may produce locally damaging wind gusts. A quiet and mild overnight Wednesday leads to temperatures around 90 for many Thursday, though cooler and less humid air will be in place across Northern New England. The chance of storms will be low for one and all.

Friday brings our next disturbance and a resultant chance of scattered storms that may be strong or damaging, with humid air surging northward again and bringing more scattered thunder Saturday. Those showers will likely strike during the afternoon.

As the wind shifts to blow from the northeast Sunday and Monday, less humid and cooler air moves in ahead of another push of warmth and humidity next week in the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
