The rain is long gone and we enjoyed a couple hours of sun and temperatures in the 50s in a few places. Now the wind cranks up and peak gusts may be around 50 mph from the west through Saturday evening.

Scattered damage, branches down, isolated power outages will all be possible during this wind event. That is why we have a First Alert tonight through Saturday afternoon. The wind relaxes a bit by Saturday evening, but there will still be some gusts between 20 and 30 mph.

Highs this weekend will be much colder. Tonight's lows first dip into the teens and 20s with wind chills in the single-digits. The wind chill remains a factor Saturday afternoon as it will feel like the 20s with actual highs struggling to reach the low 30s. There will be lots of sunshine for both days. Saturday night lows bottom out in the teens. The clouds slowly roll in Sunday afternoon across southern New England with highs around freezing and less of a wind.

Lake-effect snow showers move through parts of western New England tonight and Saturday morning. Then a system passes to our south on Monday but may give southern New England some scattered dustings of snow prior to the Monday morning drive. A larger system affects all of the northeast on Tuesday and Wednesday. The track of the system is still a little uncertain and the track makes a difference with who will see snow vs. a mix or rain.

We have a break from the winter weather on Valentine’s Day, going sunny and with temperatures in the upper 30s. Another system moves in Friday into Saturday and this set up looks similar to the Tuesday, Wednesday storm. More to come from the First Alert weather team!
