Tuesday: Morning rain to an isolated shower, humid. Highs in the 80s. Tuesday night: Cape shower, muggy, areas of fog. Lows around 70. Wednesday: Sticky, chance shower/thunder in the afternoon. Highs in the 80s.

Tuesday morning rain was accompanied by some thunder and represented the leading edge of humid air, moving back into New England for the midweek. Though steady rain is departing by midday Tuesday, the moisture-rich atmosphere will brew a few isolated or widely scattered showers, downpours and thunder Tuesday afternoon as highs reach the 80s with breaks of humid sun.

So much moisture in the air will result in areas of fog Tuesday night and an uncomfortable night for sleeping, leading to another humid day Wednesday and a 35-40-percent chance of thunder during the afternoon.

Cooler air is sitting just north of the Canadian border, however, and that cooler air will push south late Wednesday into Thursday, north to south, respectively, accompanied by some showers and a dramatically cooler and less humid feeling by late Thursday.

Cool air sticks around Friday with lots of clouds and showers not far away from Southern New England and we’ll watch that closely. The weekend looks mostly dry though clouds will probably be stubborn Saturday, especially in the morning, and humid air with a chance of thunder returns Sunday afternoon.

Thereafter, warmth, humidity and scattered thunder likely returns as a summer pattern takes hold next week in the exclusive 10-day forecast.
