Melody Mendez

Melody Mendez is an award-winning anchor and reporter.

Prior to NBC10 Boston, Melody was the morning anchor at WFLD in Chicago.

Her career as an anchor and reporter has taken her to cities across the country and around the globe over the last decade, from Jackson, Tennessee, to Champaign, Illinois, and Seattle, Washington, to Denver, Colorado.

She has covered major stories, like Hurricane Katrina and the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooting, and interviewed celebrities and athletes globally. Her sit-down with former Mexican President Felipe Calderón made international headlines.

Whether it’s reporting on natural disasters or geo-politics, Melody’s most difficult (and important) job is as a mom of two little terrors… and a rescue dog. She’s endlessly grateful for her husband’s willingness to do the 4 a.m. wake-up calls with the baby since she’s already at work by 3 a.m.!

She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Society of Professional Journalists and an active volunteer with several organizations, including the American Cancer Society and Special Olympics.
